All the information presented at the LEND conference for Book Speed Dating can be found by visiting these great websites listed below. I took ideas from each of these great librarians and tweaked it to work for my students at Chapin High School. Experience is one of the greatest teachers!
Tiffany Whitehead, The Mighty Little Librarian, is the first website I came across about Book Speed Dating. She also has some great ideas on her website that I will incorporate in my library. Check her out!
After discovering Book Speed Dating I started venturing out on the Internet to find more librarians to learn about "dating." I then stumbled upon Mrs. ReaderPants...Leigh Collazo. Her website has some great info on Book Speed Dating as well as other wonderful library tidbits.
Another inspirational librarian I found on the path of finding that perfect book date was The Daring Librarian Gwyneth Anne Bronwynee Jones. Not only did she blog about speed dating back in 2013 but recently updated Book Speed Dating by genre. Hmmm....I think I'll try that one in the future!
Here is a great short little article from School Library Journal on Book Speed Dating titled "Get on Board the Book Speed Dating Train." So what are you waiting for? Get on the train...next stop...fall in love with a book!
Below you will find three different Book Speed Dating documents that you may use. I have used the Tish Carpinelli worksheet in the past but will create a new one myself before the new school year. If you would like a copy I will have it posted here before the end of July.
